There is quite large balcony with two beach chairs and the small table and also drying hanger for the clothes. Unfortunately there is quite a lot of dust in the air from street, so everything gets dusty very quickly. The room has electric sockets next to the beds and two other sockets, one of them with USB port. The personnel speaks English and very friendly and helpful. The avenue Kalokerinou named after the discoverer of the Knossos Palace is quite busy road so it is nicer to live on higher floors. There is a restaurant serving good continental breakfast. There is omelette, ham, cheese, Greek yogurt, flakes, fruits, on the menu. Just 70 meters from the hotel there is Bazaar and in 200 m is Chalkiadakis supermarket, Lidl in 800 m outside of the city walls. All closed on Sundays. The avenue Kalokerinou has several street food places, and if you walk 400 m to Morosini Lions Fountain you can find even more restaurants there. Heraklion has a problem with great beaches, but in 500 m from the hotel there is a Dermatos... Heraklion has a problem with great beaches, but in 500 m from the hotel there is a Dermatos Bay, where is a wild beach where one can deep into the sea.
The proper beach is in Ammoudara in 2.2 km from the hotel. There is another beach in 1 km in front of Talos Plaza shopping mall, but it is rocky and no sunbeds or lifeguard.
Another place to swim is the port mole starting from the Kules fortress in 1.2 km.
The mole protects from high waves when it is windy and other places are not suitable for swimming. More

  The building is located a 5 minute walk from the city centre, all the rooms i had been to were very clean and all the appliances (TV, phone, hairdryer)... more were functional. The wifi had a good signal but was slow and unresponsive sometimes. The staff were very polite and welcoming.

The hotel entrance is just off a shopping street but within walking distance of the more historic areas, very quiet at night. Worth noting that the bus to the airport is just a few steps away. The Iraklion was a real bargain too, thoroughly recommended.

The ONLY drawbacks of this hotel was our AC wasn't strong enough for the family room and the shower curtain needs to be further out. Parking is easy 8 Euro a day around the corner from the garage. It's hard finding parking in Crete. Beware the small roads.

  A basic hotel in many ways, but all you really need, including wifi. Very friendly and helpful staff. Within comfortable walking distance to the downtown social area. Only downside,... more possibly, that it was a bit noisy, even though we weren't terribly disturbed.

Location- about 10 min walk to the old port where we found a good taverna serving fresh fish for dinner.

  We found this small hotel to be right for us. It is about 4 blocks to the City center (Lion's Fountain) on the edge of the pedestrian zone of... more the city. Everything was walking distance except the airport. Each time you asked the desk people the directions to an attraction or service, they pulled out another city map and gave you options, directions, prices, and identifying landmarks. The desk personnel all spoke English well. The elevator was very small, as is common in this type of hotel. They had a bar, dining area with free, nice breakfast. Room was air conditioned, there was a balcony with a table, chair, and drying rack. and in-room coffee and refrigerator. It isn't elegant, but clean, well-located, and just what we needed.
